Dr Thessalia Papasavva, PhD, received a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Arizona, USA, an MSc in Applied Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University College London, UK, and a PhD in Medical Genetics from the University of Athens, Greece, and the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, Cyprus. She now holds the position of Associate Scientist at the Molecular Genetics Thalassaemia Department (MGTD; head: Marina Kleanthous) of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING), where she heads the MGTD Thalassaemia Diagnostic Research Unit. Dr Papasavva is the Quality manager of the MGTD department, Project Coordinator of the Non-Invasive Prenatal Diagnosis research team of the department and Faculty Research Associate of the Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine at the CING.
She is an EMQN External Quality Assessment scheme assessor, a member of the ClinGen-recognised Haemoglobinopathies Variant Curation Expert Panel and secretary of the BoD of the Cyprus Society of Human Genetics.
Dr Papasavva has several publications in international peer-reviewed journals, she has contributed to chapters for two books, and has given numerous presentations in conferences in Cyprus and abroad.
